Over the years, we have invested our resources to insure the longevity of MSM because we believe strongly in the benefits of MSM. Now that our capabilities are well established, our attention has turned to the ongoing scientific research of MSM. The clinical studies we are helping to complete will not only serve as marketing pieces for OptiMSM, but, more importantly, will provide the scientific community with tangible evidence of MSM's efficacy.

Bergstrom Nutrition is proud to have sponsored the first clinical trial of oral MSM to be published in a peer-reviewed medical journal: Barrager E, Veltmann JR, Schauss AG, Schiller RN. A multi-centered, open label trial on the safety and efficacy of methylsulfonylmethane in the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis. J Altern Complement Med 2002;8:167-74.

Bergstrom Nutrition is also dedicated to demonstrating the safety of OptiMSM, and sponsored the first toxicity study of MSM to be published in a peer-reviewed journal: Horváth K, Noker PE, Somfai-Relle S, et al. Toxicity of methylsulfonylmethane in rats. Food Chem Toxicol 2002;40:1459-62.

Bergstrom Nutrition is also proud to be sponsoring the largest clinical trial of MSM yet undertaken: an IRB-approved, randomized, double-blind study of the efficacy of OptiMSM in supporting joint health. Watch for the forthcoming press release.

Our medical advisor, Stanley Jacob, M.D., has been studying the clinical effects of MSM for more than twenty years. He has chronicled thousands of case studies and personal testimonials attesting to the benefits of MSM. Initially his work began with DMSO, of which MSM is the primary metabolite.
